Hado– the intrinsic vibrational life force energy that promotes powerful transformations and Mizuno’s inspirational influence.
My husband ran his first marathon in Mizunos, so when the opportunity came up for me to review the new Mizuno Wave Rider 18, I was excited to take these shoes for some test runs, knowing how much he loves his.
After getting my gait analyzed numerous times over the past few years, I’m confident in the shoe experts’ recommendation of my need for a neutral shoe. Though I can run shorter distance in a minimalist shoe, I prefer some support in a neutral shoe for longer distances.
Here’s what I love so far about the WaveRider 18s:
- It’s a neutral shoe—perfect for those of us who don’t need any major corrections. It’s been a great daily running shoe for me on anything from the treadmill to the pavement.
- It has lots of room in the toe box. Though I have a narrow foot, in the past I’ve had issues with laces being too tight and toe boxes too narrow, which leads to a numbness in my feet when I run. With the Wave Riders I immediately noticed a comfortable fit and had zero problems with toe numbness.
- They are lightweight (7.8 oz). It took me a few runs to adjust to a different shoe, but once I broke them in, I was very happy with the feel of how light they were. I’ve run in a heavier trail running shoe in the past, and I tend to steer clear of shoes that feel like they are weighing me down. Because my running goals are typically marathon to ultra marathon distances I don’t want any distraction of a heavy shoe, so these were perfect for me!
- Fun color options! I’ll be honest and admit I’m not usually big on fashion or care what color my shoes are for running…but the black pair I received weren’t my faves. Black running shoes? They do have a fun ombre effect into silver. But then I checked out their other color options and saw they had blue & silver and white & fuchsia. I’d definitely choose one of those fun color combos for my next pair!
I’d love to hear: What are your favorite running shoes? Would you be interested in trying out a pair of Mizuno’s Wave Rider 18?
