SPIbelt Review: It’s Not Your Mama’s Fanny Pack

I became a big fan of the Austin based company, SPIbelt, a few years ago when I decided to run a half-marathon without my usual hydration belt.  Instead, I decided to try out a belt that would be used just to carry my ‘fuel’.  I was hoping to set a personal record in this half marathon and I wanted to feel as light as possible, and when I carry my own water, I often feel weighted down.

I learned about the SPIbelt (Small Personal Item Belt) at a race expo and loved that it is lightweight and that it would fit my fuel, phone, ID and keys.  For the race, I used my SPIbelt  to carry my fuel and and my driver’s license–it fit everything perfectly and stayed put without any bouncing around on my waist:

I love that they come in a variety of colors and patterns and that they have a Kids’ SPIbelt which has an opening for earphones and can accomodate an insulin pump or other small medical devices.
